Item Description
Is it possible to believe in both God and the law of attraction? A core argument of Rhonda Byrne's best-selling book The Secret, the law of attraction says that thoughts are magnetic. Anyone can have whatever they want, be it good health, wealth, or even relationships. They need only train their minds to dwell on what they desire. But is this true? In this companion audio book to the current media storm, author Ed Gungor believes there is more to the story. Respecting the real needs that have caused so many to seize on Byrne's program of mental self-help, Gungor uncovers a more accurate representation of the power of the mind by examining the role God plays in the equation. His goal is not to attack, but to correct what he says is misguided advice in a manner both compassionate and compelling. His results may surprise you!

The Secret is a good thing!

Theres more to the Secret does what it implyes. In that it compares the Bible to the Secret. In my own personal thoughts the Secret is and can be applied to any religion. It teaches you to be happy with what you have, be contient. It is ok to want more, want better but be happy and gracious about your life. Have gratitude. The Bible also says to be contient with what you have and your desires or wishes will come to you. In this book I feel the Secret is being torn down. In comparing the two you are told the Secret is not correct. How can anything that teaches you to do what the Bible says be wrong. The Secret is to be happy, contient, open your inner eyes see the beauty around you. Is this not what the Bible teaches? Being a pastor/author of this book he is taught to see things in a certain light according to his religion. Not that this is wrong he can only see as he was taught. I do belive in the Secret and what it can do for you. Should you read this book? My thoughts say no. It only tends to confuse.
God is included in the Secret

If you are religious, you might be afraid to read or practice the secret. Ed Gungor lets you know it's okay to want and achieve happiness, abundance, good and positive things and people by utilizing the Secret. Use your own judgement on what you feel comfortable with, but there is scripture that proves God does not want us to be downtrodden. Thankfullness and gratitude are key.
Very liberating, answers many issues, spot on

As a Christian I have been intrigued by the law of attraction since watching the video the secret. However, I did have some misgivings about it. As a Christian, I would not want to embrace anything that would interfere with Christ being Lord "boss" of my life. Still as I read the bible I would see more and more that the law of attraction seemed to even be real and even acknowledged by Jesus. Jesus said in all things you pray, pray believing that you have received them and it shall be granted to you. He said ask whatever you that your joy may be made full. Ask and yea shall receive, seek and yea shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you. As Christians we are to pray in faith believing we will receive what we pray for. So the parallels to good old fashioned faith seemed striking.
This book confirmed to me that the law of attraction is a real and powerful principle. It may well be a principle that works for everyone to a certain extent. I have had amazing results with it over the last year. It has strengthened my prayer life and drawn me closer to the lord.
The best thing the book came up with was that yes the law of attraction may be a physical law of nature. As Christians you have the freedom to utilize it. However keep the lord first in all areas of your life. Don't ask or seek things you know he would not approve of. Other than that you are free to use it as part of your freedom in Christ. The more I study it the more I believe it may be a sin not to use it in your life.
But it answered a lot of questions and reached a lot of conclusions I had reached on my own. Was nice to get confirmation from this man of God.
Too negative

I'm a big fan of the Secret and I was thinking this book will be a positive review over the book but instead the book just said negative things and going beyond the line. I'm cosidered myself very religious and I thought this book will be like the secret applying to the religion side but no at all. the author explain the logic things of you don't have to believe literary but to me reading the secret it was logic, you can't sit in your bed and say I'm going to be skinny and you don't do anything or you will expect things change just thinking or "calling your thoughts". To me the secret was just a guide of how to be positive in front of any circunstances and fight for what do you wan, how to be strong and positive.
Did not like at all, if you like the secret do not buy this book
Conservative view of the secret for conservative Christians

When seeking truth sometimes we need to shed some of our conservative way of thinking. I am a liberal Christian and had to shed some of my liberal way of thinking after discovering the law of vibration and the law of attraction. This book was written by a closed minded conservative for other close minded conservatives who can find 1001 things wrong and unbiblical about the Secret. The fact is that everything about the secret is Biblical, you can find it in both the old and new testaments. I do not recommend this book because weather the author realizes it or not, this book is designed to distract you and take you off the path of success by creating doubt consciously and subconsciously in your mind. It is obvious that the author doesn't believe in the secret and I'm willing to bet he does not have a fulfilling life.
Who do you listen to when it comes to the secret? Listen to people who live extraordinary lives. Not from authors you never heard of.
When you study the Secret keep an open mind and a 100% teach-ability index. If you don't you will never really know the Secret.
If you believe in talking snakes, a boat full of animals that saved all life on earth, and a man who lived in the belly of a whale, then this book is for you.
If you are the kind of person who reads these same stories and doesn't take them literally but can see hidden meaning and hidden truth, knowledge, and wisdom in them, then do not get this book, the book will make you feel like less of a person.
For more good reading on the secret everyone should get all books written by Napoleon Hill. His observations were recorded and mentioned in Bob Proctor's DVD 'Beyond the Secret'.
